Overview
Candidates can become a Certified ADA Paratransit Manager by completing the following steps:
- Completing a series of foundation and elective courses
- Preparing a professional portfolio (if requesting to use work experience as a substitute for a course)
- Completing the required 60 credits within 2 years for initial certification
- Passing an online test to verify skills and knowledge in paratransit management
Steps to Certification
All of the following steps should be completed within two years of registration. All courses are hosted by Easterseals Project Action and can be accessed on the Easterseals learning portal (connection information provided upon registration for the certification program).
Step 1—Complete Foundation Courses (36 total hours):
- Introduction to ADA Complementary Paratransit Management
- ADA Complementary Paratransit Management Essentials
- Taking Paratransit Service to the Next Level: It’s not just about Meeting Minimum Requirements
Step 2—Complete Courses on Required Topics (9 total hours):
- ADA Complementary Paratransit Appeals Process Requirements Webinar
- Best Practices in Paratransit Appeals Webinar
- Determining Conditional Eligibility Webinar
- Implementing Conditional Eligibility Webinar
- Paratransit Emergency Preparedness Webinar
- ADA Complementary Paratransit: Responding to Emergencies Webinar
Step 3—Complete Elective Courses (15 total hours):
- Transportation and the ADA Course
- Procurement and Maintenance of Vehicles and Facilities Mini-Course
Step 4—Certification Test
- Online test to verify skills
Total Credit Hours for Initial Certification – 60 hours in 2 years
